![]() ![]() He has the fury of fire to burn the earth into ashes. He takes the title of a prince, besides Bedouin, Chenghis and thunder as well as the furious Durbasa (disciple of Vishwamitra). This is a time for battle, so he sets everything aside and goes on to free his motherland from the shackles of all things bad. ![]() This stanza starts off on an emotional note and then there’s a shift in the mood. ‘’Ami krishno konthe monthon bish piya batha baridher!Īmi bomkesh, dhori bondhon dhara gongotri.Īmi pinag paner dumru thrishul, drarma rajer dondho,Īmi sotru o maha sonkho, ami pronobnad prochondo!Īmi pran khola hasi ullas, – Ami sristi boeri mahatrasĪmi maha proloy dwa dosh robir rahu gras !Īmi kobhu prosanto- Kobhu asanto darun secha chari,Īmi arun khuner tarun ami bidhir dorpo hari.’’ ![]() ![]() Say, Valiant, Ever high is my head! I am creation, I am destruction, I am habitation, I am the grave-yard, I am the end, the end of night! I am the son of Indrani With the moon in my head And the sun on my temple In one hand of mine is the tender flute While in the other I hold the war bugle! The poet is ready with the instrument and weapons. He indicates that he’s like a replica of Indrani or the blue headed Shiva drinking poison from the vicious waters. He thinks of himself as the creator and the destructor of the universe. The poet says that he is uncontrollable and irrepressible because he is both, the sacrificial fire as well as the keeper of the sacrificial fire. Momo ek hate aka basher bashri ar hate rono bojro.’’ I am the tornado! I am pestilence, the great fear, I am the death of all reigns of terror, I am full of a warm restlessness for ever!Īmi durmadh mmo praner peyala hormadh hai hormodh bhorpur mod.Īmi sristi, ami dhonsho, ami lokaloy ami soshan, I do whatever appeals to me, whenever I like, I embrace the enemy and wrestle with death, I am mad. Here is my analysis of the same in 5 parts.Below is part three of my analysis: Many have seen, in this poem, elements of grief, heroism, and love. Originally published in several periodicals, the poem was first collected in 1922 in a volume titled Agnibeena: the first anthology publication of Nazrul’s poems. “Bidrohi” is a popular revolutionary Bengali poem and the most famous poem written by Kazi Nazrul Islam (written during the month of December, 1921). ![]()
